orpheus parody

Mixed Media Installation, 2012-2013

A repetition of geometrical shapes and everyday imagery, compose a contem- porary mosaic which relates to the myth of Orpheus. He was the greatest mu- sician, whose songs could charm wild beasts and nature. The random imag- ery of television and computer screens, recalls the magical music of Orpheus; and the plastic colourful toys refer to the wild animals of the myth as a paradox of today’s reality. The fragments of trees photographed from underneath evoke the moment when Orpheus was still with Eurydice before reaching the upper word. The geometrical patterns generate movement and rhythm and re-examine the relation between the archaeologi- cal mosaics and contemporary design.
